The season of red leaves

I'm from a country where is always summer. Sometimes in the "winter" the leaves of some trees dry, but mostly they are green. The sun is always up and hot, except for that part of the island were at some time of the year is always raining. We don't see red leaves or the blooming of the flowers as in other parts of the world. We have a saying that we only have two seasons: Verano e Infierno (summer and hell).

As a traveler, I had the opportunity of traveling to other countries and continents at different times of the year. Thanks to this, I could see the colors of the season: winter white and gray; spring red, rose and green; summer, yellow and shiny; fall, gold, and red. And something that I figure out while I've been traveling is that the fall is my favorite one. It is not so cold or so hot. The trees have these colors that are just beautiful. It is like walking into a scene of a book where a lot of magic could happen.

Right now I'm living in Spain doing my Ph.D. I have a lot of free time so I spend the day basically walking in the streets. When I go out and the sun is up what I see is just shiny colors from the trees. In Alcalá, where I live, we have the luck that it is almost always sunny, even though we have some rainy days (just like the past weekend). I wake up every day knowing that I could walk in the city and wander around because of the red, yellow, gold, and green leaves. In the morning it is mostly cool but in the afternoon it is a little most warm, that kind of heat that feels good, that it is not sweaty nor annoying.

I love feeling that. Like I'm at home, although I'm very far from home. Having the perception that I can do a lot of things and feel great about it. The feeling of peace and stability even if I don’t have any steadiness. This season makes me feel at some point even happy. That's something that I haven't had with the others… not most of the time.

So, autumn is my season. When I could feel that I can be whatever I want and do whatever I wish. What's your season?
