Life as we know it is in danger

And mostly everything else.

I lived all my life in a peaceful world. Of course, there's been a lot of conflicts and wars in other parts of the world. But living in D.R was peaceful overall. I've been traveling since I was 10 years old. Well, not. That's a lie. Actually, I travel since I was a little kid. My father took us to different places in the country every weekend. Of course, before six years old I can't remember any of the places we've been to before. But my first trip on an airplane to another country was when I was 10.

I remember that at first, I was a little nervous, I have to be alone on the airplane and then I'll meet my aunt and cousins at the airport. But surprisingly, after I pass the check-in point and was at the gate waiting to board the plane I was calm and relax. I board the plane, find my seat, and look out the window during the trip. I can watch a movie, I eat the food well (in that time they served good food, not like now that they give you almost anything). I remember the mother of a friend that told me that flying was like going on the bus but without the holes in the way. She was true. I really enjoy that flight, so I keep flying almost all my life after that.

With the pandemic, two years ago, I had to cancel two trips that I plan for that year. In the end, after thinking that I wouldn't be able to travel again, I took a flight to Spain for my studies. But I didn't make any traveling plans in the first year. Just went to Malaga and Valencia with six months between and by train. This year, with the covid weaker and getting vaccinated I was hopeful that probably I could fly to another country outside Spain. The first plan was going to Viena but had to cancel because they closed the border at the time that I was planning to go (because of covid). Now I have three trips around the corner next month and there's a war started. Russia just bombing Ukraine and I'm sincerely scared.

I've been watching the news since the conflict started and now that the capital of Ukraine is in the middle of a battle I'm really worried about what is going on next. I'm a little angry because the decision of a few people can affect in a very negative way the lives of millions of persons. I’m sad for the people there that have to wake up at 5 am with the sound of a war knocking on their doors. And if you had studied history, probably you know that the conflict it is just started. So, I'm not sure what is gonna be next, I hope everything gets settled and that we can continue having a "normal" life. I hope that this doesn't scale bigger. But I'm truly worried not only for my upcoming trips but for the life of millions and how this war is gonna affect us all. Let's wait for the better.

After two years of pandemics and variants and a lot of shit around the world, the least that we need is a war.
